Repairing a Broken Reclining Chair 2021

TODAY’S ARTICLE IS A FOLLOW-UP TO ONE THAT I DID ABOUT FOUR AND A HALF YEARS AGO AT THAT TIME I DID A REPAIR ON THIS RECLINER AND A COUPLE HUNDRED THOUSAND OF YOU HAVE WATCHED THAT VIDEO SO TODAY I’M GOING TO DO A FOLLOW-UP ON THE REPAIR THAT I DID ON THE MECHANICAL PART IS STILL HOLDING UP VERY WELL.

THERE are NO ISSUES THERE THE FRAMEWORK ITSELF IS GETTING KIND OF LOOSE AND WOBBLY SO WE HAVE TO DO SOME REINFORCING THERE. THE CHAIR IS NEARING THE END OF ITS SERVICE LIFE, BUT I’M GOING TO SEE IF WE CAN EXTEND IT JUST A LITTLE BIT FURTHER. NOW, MOST RECLINING CHAIRS WILL HAVE A REMOVABLE BACK AS THIS ONE DOES SO I MEAN FOR TAKING IT IN OUT OF A BUILDING, UPSTAIRS AND SO FORTH WHICH MAKES IT A LOT EASIER.

How much does it cost to fix a power recliner?

SO IF YOU’RE STRUGGLING WITH THAT THING WITH THE BACK ON THINK ABOUT SEEING WHETHER YOU CAN REMOVE IT. ALL RIGHT WE GOT THAT ONE OK SO THE BACK IS OF THE WAY. SO LOOKING AT THE CHAIR MECHANISM AND PARTICULARLY THE REPLACEMENT BUSHING THAT I FABRICATED FROM THE PVC PIPE FITTING FOUR-AND-A-HALF YEARS LATER IT’S STILL GOING STRONG SOME COMMENTERS ON MY ORIGINAL VIDEO FELT THAT PVC WAS NOT A A GOOD WEARING MATERIAL TO USE FOR THAT BUSHING BUT IT’S STILL GOING STRONG STILL WORKING WELL. THERE’S NO NO PLAY OR SLOP IN IT.

IT WORKS SMOOTHLY AND AS I SAID THE MECHANISM ITSELF WORKS VERY WELL THE STRUCTURE OF THE CHAIR ITSELF IS GETTING PRETTY WOBBLY SO WE’LL GET IN THERE AND SEE WE CAN STRENGTHEN IT UP A BIT TO GET MORE MILEAGE OUT OF IT SO LOOKING OVER THINGS HERE THE ANGLE BRACKETS THAT I PUT IN PLACE THE LAST TIME AROUND I HAVE KEPT THAT PART OF THE FRAMEWORK VERY STURDY BUT LOOKING IN HERE, WE SEE THAT THERE’S A NUT MISSING THERE’S A THROUGH BOLT AND THERE’S SUPPOSED TO BE A NUT ON THERE.

How do I fix my electric recliner?

IT’S GONE. STILL GOT THE NUT ON THIS SIDE BUT IT’S NOT VERY TIGHT SO THE FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS IS TO PUT A NEW NUT ON THERE. I DON’T HAVE ANY NYLOC NUTS IT’S A QUARTER INCH BY 20 STANDARD SIZE I DON’T HAVE ANY NYLOC NUTS OR LOCK WASHERS SO I’M JUST GOING TO PUT A LITTLE DAB OF LOCTITE ON THERE SO THAT THE NUT DOESN’T BACK OFF ONCE WE PUT IT ON. IT FEELS STURDIER ALREADY. I’LL TIGHTEN UP THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL .

Why does my power recliner not work?

GOOD AND TIGHT. SO WHAT I’VE DECIDED I’M GOING TO DO HERE IS TO TAKE A COUPLE OF HEAVY FOUR INCH ANGLE BRACKETS AND CUT AND DRILL THEM TO FIT IN THERE AND THAT’LL GIVE IT SOME EXTRA STURDINESS AND THAT SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO SO I’VE CUT THE BRACKETS TO FIT AND DRILLED SOME EXTRA HOLES IN IT.

Can power recliners be operated manually?

BECAUSE WE’RE GOING INTO A PIECE OF HARDWOOD HERE I’VE DRILLED A PILOT HOLE IN EACH SIDE THIS IS PLYWOOD HERE AND I CAN’T GET A DRILL AT IT ANYWAY SO I’LL JUST SCREW DIRECTLY INTO THAT WITHOUT A PILOT HOLE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM. THERE THAT’S GOOD AND SOLID SO IT’S TIME TO PUT THIS THING BACK TOGETHER EASIER TO PUT ON THAN IT IS TO TAKE OFF.
